Preparation of tissue fluid of the vessel wall and determination of its lipoproteins

      Abstract

      The method of squeezing tissue fluid out of the wall of large human and porcine vessels for biochemical and immunological investigations is developed. Electrophoretic separation of lipoproteins in the tissue liquid squeezed out of the human and/or porcine aorta enabled the detection in this fluid of the same spectrum of lipoproteins as in the serum (α-, β - and pre-β-lipoproteins).
      For quantitative determination of β- and pre-β-lipoproteins in the tissue fluid the precipitation method can be used. The data obtained by this method show that the total content of β- and pre-β-lipoproteins in the tissue fluid of the human aortic wall is higher than in the inferior vena cava and increases significantly with the extent of the atherosclerotic process. The content of these lipoproteins in the tissue fluid of the inferior vena cava remains constant independent of age and manifestation of the atherosclerotic process in the aorta.
