Aim: 5-Lipoxygenase (5-LO)-leukotriene B4 (LTB4) signalling axis plays an important role
in vascular inflammation, however, the cellular source of LTB4 in the injured vasculatures
is unclear. To determine the hypothesis that vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) might
be an active player in the secretion of LTB4 in the injured vasculatures, we examined
LTB4 production and related signaling mechanisms in VSMC stimulated with HMGB1, a
damage-associated molecular pattern.
