Background and Aims: A diet rich in n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), especially in eicosapentaenoic
acid (EPA, C20:5 n-3) is cardioprotective. PUFAs modulate cellular eicosanoids formed
from arachidonic acid (AA, C20:4 n-6) and EPA. We investigated the impact of EPA supplementation
on ABCA1-mediated cholesterol efflux, an antiatherogenic pathway.
