HDL cholesterol modulation by Aronia melanocarpa and red wine extract supplementation

      Background and Aims: Functional beverages, rich in phenolic phytochemicals are among the promising strategies to counteract age-related changes of lipid profile. Certain polyphenolic ingredients in Aronia melanocarpa (A.m.) have revealed lipid modulating effects, whereas red wine has a proven lipid-regulating effect. Aim: To investigate the lipid-lowering effect of three A.m.-based functional beverages and red wine extract in rats.
