      Summary

Cholesteryl ester-rich inclusions, isolated from fatty streak and fibrous plaque lesions and examined by scanning electron microscopy, showed a spherical shape, and frequent lack of substance evidenced by a variety of defects in their surface. The occurrence of these defects may explain some of the inclusions' puzzling pleomorphism observed by transmission electron microscopy.
